About the show

When rock bottom hits, washed-up producer DOC makes one last gamble: change the sound, change the voice, change the game. He drops the track, and the result? It blows up. Suddenly, the world wants to know: Who is Mona Loser?

Inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and set to a slick, high-energy pop score, this sharp, satirical musical follows an unsuspecting girl as she's pushed into the spotlight to play the part of a viral sensation. But as the spotlight gets hotter and DOC lurks just out of frame, the question is: how high can Mona climb, and how far can she fall?

FAQs

What is a workshop production?

Mona Loser is still finding its feet, that's what makes this so special. During the days the team will be rewriting, so actors will have their scripts in hand and staging and costumes will be kept simple.

At the end of the show, we'd love you to share your thoughts via a short feedback form. Your voice genuinely shapes what this becomes. You're not just watching it. You're part of making it.

How does the lottery work?

Everyone who enters has the same chance. 200 tickets will be released at £15 each (instead of the £25 public price). On top of that, 5 even luckier winners, one per performance, take the Monster Package: two free seats and two free drinks.

The draw is Monday 22 June.

What if I don't win?

You won't miss out. The lottery is the first way in, not the only way. General tickets at £25 go on sale on Tuesday 23 June via the Southwark Playhouse website, just after the draw, so you'll know whether you've won in good time.

What if I win and I can't make it?

Your winning ticket is transferable, pass it to a friend if you can't go. Just please be considerate: one entry per person. Don't dig out your old Hotmail addresses to enter five times.

When and where is the show?

Five performances at The Large, Southwark Playhouse, Borough:

  • Wed 2 September 2026, 7.30pm
  • Thu 3 September 2026, 7.30pm
  • Fri 4 September 2026, 7.30pm
  • Sat 5 September 2026, Matinee
  • Sat 5 September 2026, Evening
When will I find out if I won?

The draw happens on Monday 22 June. We'll email everyone, winners and non-winners, that day. Winners have 24 hours to claim their place. Public tickets at £25 go on sale on Tuesday 23 June, so if you don't win, you'll still have time to grab a regular ticket.

Can I bring a guest?

Monster Package winners get two of everything, two tickets and two drinks. So yes, bring someone.

For the £15 tickets, the exact allocation per winner will be confirmed at the time of the draw. We'll always make it clear in your winning email whether the ticket is for you alone or for you and a guest.

What about access needs?

If you win, you'll book your ticket through Southwark Playhouse. You can let Southwark know about any access requirements at that point (wheelchair seats, hearing loops, anything else) and they'll allocate accordingly.

You can also reply to the winner email and we'll flag your needs to Southwark on your behalf.

Full access information for Southwark Playhouse Borough is here.

What if none of the dates work for me?

Only enter the lottery if you can make at least one of the five performances. Seats are very limited for this show and unclaimed prizes get redistributed quickly. If none of the dates work, save your entry for the next lottery.
